Not too long ago, CJ released a line of instant Indian-style curry. They got flavors like vindaloo and aloo. I just picked this up one day because it was on sale. I picked up some chicken makhani aka butter chicken, my all time favorite Indian curry.
I really did not have high hopes, but it wasn’t terrible. It’s sweet and tomatoey. Not that many chunks of chicken, but that was expected. It’s not really going to satisfy anybody’s craving for Indian food, but as an instant curry alternative, it’ll do.
Just for shits and giggles, I picked up a box of Ottogi beef curry for old times sake. Way back in the day during my second job here, I used to pack this stuff lunch all the time. Just dump it on some rice, blast it in the microwave, and you’re good to go.
I know korean curry is just a bastardization of japanese curry, which is a bastardization of indian curry. Even so, I have a soft spot for the stuff. I enjoyed eating it as a kid. It’s got beef, potatoes, and carrots. What’s there not to like? It also goes GREAT with kimchi.
